Amateur Radio
Both Anamaria and I are licensed amateur radio operators.
Anamaria holds a Technician class license (KE6IOE) and operates mostly VHF
mobile with a Yaesu FT-2200R in her vehicle.
I (Mike) am an Amateur Extra class operator (AD6IL).
Most of the time I spend on the radio is during my 6-hour round-trip commute
that I do twice a week from El Dorado Hills, CA to Belmont, CA.
I have a Yaesu FT-100 in the car and operate VHF on the 145.370 (WT6G)
and 147.195 (N6ICW) repeaters as well as 144.200 (USB).
I also get on HF regularly with a High Sierra HS-1500 screwdriver antenna
on the car.
Here are more details on
ham radio projects and activities.

Karate
I began taking Karate lessons at T. Kanes Karate in Fremont, CA.
It is something I've wanted to do for a long time and am really enjoying.
They teach a combination of Karate, Tai Kwon Do, Kung Fu, and Kickboxing.
I'm currently only able to go twice a week but I'm glad to have been
able to keep it up. I thought it might be interesting to keep track of
when I get my various belts. Unfortunately I didn't keep any records before
November 2001.

I try to write down new techniques as I learn them since I sometimes forget
immediately after my lesson and find myself unable to practice a new technique
all week.
My immediate goal was to create content for my PalmPilot.
However, as with other notes I've wanted to put on my Palm, I found that I would
create content twice...once as a normal document for my reference, and another
for my Palm.
HTML seemed to be a natural solution to use for both so I started looking for
something that would let me view HTML files on the Palm.
I found iSilo which seems to work pretty well.
Of course you have to convert the HTML to a pdb format but it does work.

The files for the palm are here. First, you need the iSilo program if you
don't have it.
