Yellow Belt Technique Details

Cresent Kick

  1. Back leg sweeps in front, striking with inside edge of foot.
  2. Leg comes back into ready position.

Striking Asp A

Attacker in front holding your shoulders; pulling.
  1. Step forward right. Left arm comes over and traps against right shoulder. Right sword fist to groin.
  2. Right hand comes up to the right ear and chops to attacker's neck.
  3. Cover back right.

Striking Asp B

Attacker in front holding your shoulders; pulling.
  1. Step forward right. Left arm comes over and traps against right shoulder. Right knuckle punch to solar plexus.
  2. Left hand sweeps arms down.
  3. Right hand comes up to the right ear and hammer-fist to side of head. Follow through to left shoulder, back knuckles to head.
  4. Cover back right.

Reverse Cresent Kick (right leg)

  1. Turn waist as far left as possible.
  2. Right left comes up on the left and sweeps to the right.

Locking the Arm - Down

Attacker behind holding your right arm behind your back.
  1. Step back left.
  2. Left elbow to the solar plexus
  3. Step forward right.
  4. Step forward left, twisting right-arm up to break grip.

Locking the Arm - Up

Attacker behind holding your right arm behind your back.
  1. Step back left.
  2. Left elbow to the solar plexus. Grab attacker's wrist with right hand.
  3. Step forward and to the right with the right leg.
  4. Turn and left snap kick to the body.
  5. Pull the attacker's arm with the right hand and strike the left forearm against the attacker's arm/elbow.
  6. Right knee to the body.
  7. Cover.

Front Leg Round-House Kick

  1. Transfer weight onto rear leg.
  2. Round-house kick with front leg.

Full Nelson A

Attacker behind with you in a full nelson hold.
  1. Step to the right with the right leg. Bring your arms down to break the hold.
  2. C-step with your left leg behind the attacker's leg.
  3. Swivel left striking with the left elbow to the solar-plexus and a right hammer-fist to the groin.
  4. Cover out by stepping to the left with the right leg and back with the left.

Full Nelson B

Attacker behind with you in a full nelson hold.
  1. Step to the right with the right leg. Bring your arms down to break the hold. (This time you don't break the hold.)
  2. C-step with your left leg behind the attacker's leg.
  3. Bend forward at the waist and strike with a left heela-hand to the chest. Rake the left hand down the attacker's body. Eagle claw to the groin.
  4. Rip up and strike with the left elbow.
  5. Cover out by stepping to the left with the right leg and back with the left.

Triple Kick

  1. Forward snap kick
  2. Side kick
  3. Rear kick

Grasping Talon A

Attacker has your right wrist with their left hand...reaching straight across.
  1. Step forward with the right leg. Bring the left up to the face as a guard. Bring the right hand in to your chest by bending the elbow. Strike the attacker's holding arm with the elbow as you bend it, breaking the hold.
  2. Right hammer-fist to the groin.
  3. Right back knuckle to the face.
  4. Step back right to cover.

Grasping Talon B

Attacker has your right wrist with their left hand...reaching straight across.
  1. Step right 45-degrees forward and to the right. Keeping right arm straight, bring it across body. Bring left hand up under right arm at the shoulder, palm facing forward.
  2. Chop attacker's hand with left and grab. Bring right hand set.
  3. Right punch to attacker's ribs.
  4. Right punch to attacker's head.
  5. Cover by stepping back to the right with the left leg and back with the right.

Snap Round-House Kick

  1. Forward snap kick.
  2. Round-house kick. (More like a front-leg round-house kick.)

Headlock A

Attacker has you bent over in a headlock.
  1. Step up with right leg and turn 90-degrees. Bend elbows and bring hands up to your ears.
  2. Double hammer-fist; left to the kidneys, right to the groin. Bring arms back up with hands near ears.
  3. Step back with left, ducking under attacker's arms.
  4. Cover back right.

Headlock B

Attacker has you bent over in a headlock.
  1. Step up with right leg and turn 90-degrees. Reach up behind attacker's head and grab hair, forehead, whatever.
  2. Hard-bow with heela hand to attacker's chin.

Kickbox Y1

  1. Front-leg round house kick
  2. Hook
  3. Cross

Dancer

Attacker has you in a choke hold from behind.
  1. With the left, step behind and to the right. Chop to attacker's groin.
  2. Turning 180-degrees to the left, sword hand to attacker's groin. Bring left set.
  3. Left punch to the ribs.
  4. Right punch to the head.
  5. Cover back right.

Kickbox Y2

  1. Hook
  2. Uppercut
  3. Snap round house kick

Outward Defense

Attacker throwing a right punch.
  1. Step up with right leg. Right outward block. Left hand to cover face.
  2. Right punch to attacker's face. Left comes set.
  3. Left punch to attacker's face.
  4. Bring right leg back to cat stance.
  5. Right forward snap kick to the groin.

Kickbox Y3

  1. Reverse cresent kick
  2. Fading jab
  3. Shuffle uppercut

Bear Hug Pinned - Back

Attacker behind with their arms around you pinning yours.
  1. Bend left at the waist, left elbow to the body.
  2. Left hammer fist to the groin.
  3. Bend right at the waist, right elbow to the body.
  4. Right hammer fist to the groin.
  5. Cover by stepping forward with the left, spin back with the right.

Bear Hug Pinned - Front

Attacker in front with their arms around you pinning yours.
  1. Jab with thumbs to the groin.
  2. Bring knee up to groin and bring elbows back to break hold.
  3. Left heela hand to the face.
  4. Right knife-edge kick to the attacker's knee.
  5. Cover by stepping across in front with the right, step left with the left leg, and then step back with the right turning 90-degrees.

Nunchuku Set 1B

Starting at figure 8 facing 90-degrees left from starting position.
  1. Drop down, spin exchange to left hand. Spin exchange to right hand. Spin exchange to left hand.
  2. Spin jab.
  3. Spin up back up to right shoulder, down to inside of right leg, around and between legs, catching with left hand.
  4. Spin exchange to right hand. Spin exchange to left hand. Spin exchange to right hand.
  5. Let go of right hand, spin around neck to right hand.
  6. Figure eight.

Kata 1 - Right

  1. Start horse stance, weapon/sheath.
  2. Slide left foot back to heal/toe position. Right inward block.
  3. Slide right foot back to heal/toe position. Left inward block.
  4. Step forward right to heal/toe position facing left 90-degrees. Right inward block. Left outward block.
  5. Slide right foot back to heal/toe position. Left inward block. Right outward block.
  6. Step forward right to heal/toe position turning left 180-degrees. Right inward block. Left upper block.
  7. Slide right foot back to heal/toe position. Left inward block. Right upper block.
  8. Step forward left to heal/toe position facing right 90-degrees. Left downward block. Right downward block.
  9. Step back right to heal/toe position turning right 180-degrees. Right downward block. Left downward block.
  10. Step forward left turning right 90-degrees to horse stance.
